The hotel is constructed every year, since 1990, from ice and exists between the months of December and April. The mission of Icehotel group is to create life enriching experiences. Momentary stories and meetings that become keepsakes to remember and share forever. When we started out in 1989, the small art gallery grew to become a kind of hotel the world had never seen before.

After its first opening in 1990, the hotel has been rebuilt each year from December to April. The hotel, including the chairs and beds, is constructed from snow and ice blocks taken from the nearby Torne River. Dress warmly before venturing the 155 metres underground – it never gets warmer than 2 C° in the mine. Fortunately, the suite itself is a comfortable 18 C° and there are extra blankets to go with it.

A new design, new suites, a brand new reception - in fact everything in it is crisp and new. The Ice Hotel is situated on the shores of the Torne River, in the old village of Jukkasjarvi in Swedish Lapland. Transportation by air to and/or from Kiruna, Sweden can only be arranged as part of total trans-Atlantic air packages.

In November 2016, the Ice Hotel will open ICEHOTEL 365, a brand new building that will house ice accommodation all year round! Where is the Ice Hotel?
