2020-08-14 · PubMed and Ovid/ProQuest MEDLINE all let you access MEDLINE, the U.S. National Library of Medicine's biomedicine bibliographic database. There are several differences between the options but the most prominent is the search interface.

Ovid’s system is usually seven days less up-to-date than PubMed. PubMed grants 60 per cent (approx.) of the library’s E-journals while Ovid can allow 80 per cent of it. PubMed provides free access to MEDLINE, links to full-text articles found in PubMed Central or at publisher websites, and other related resources. PubMed also provides Clinical Queries search filters, and Special Queries pages.

PubMed contains Medline – but also the PubMedCentral papers (full text articles deposited to promote open access) and articles before they get full MeSH tagging by the NLM team that organised the databases. Ovid is either updated daily or weekly while PubMed is updated every day. Updated MEDLINE systems are mostly found on a PubMed system.
